Direct Contact Heater

Direct Contact Heater

Direct contact Heater (DCH) is designed to heat the process fluid to the temperature of heating vapor achieving almost zero approach. Utilizing the lower grade heat & improving the overall energy efficiency. Minimum maintenance and cleaning requirements make DCH the top heating solution.

How it Works

The Direct Contact Heater (DCH) system is a component that is used to heat up liquid before it enters the evaporator using heat recovery from vapors or non-condensable gases (NCGs)

Step Icon

Inside direct contact heaters, hot and cold streams are brought to contact without any separating wall and high rates of heat transfer are achieved.

Step Icon

Juice enters through the Juice Inlet, where it encounters high-temperature vapor, introduced through the Vapor Inlet.

Step Icon

The top and the bottom baffles guide the flow of juice and vapor, ensuring maximum contact for efficient heating.

Step Icon

Any non-condensable gases are efficiently removed via the NCG Line to prevent buildup and maintain operational efficiency.

Step Icon

The Catch-All Arrangement effectively removes contaminants, preserving product purity.

Step Icon

The Bottom Annulus facilitates fluid circulation, enhancing heat transfer.

Why IsIt Needed?

01

Achieves temperature differences as low as 0-1°C between heating and heated media creating a higher final product temperature compared to conventional heaters.

02

Continuous operation without the need for cleaning, reducing downtime and ensuring uninterrupted production.

03

Reduced retention times, minimizing sugar losses and improving efficiency.

04

Zero head loss, reducing the power requirements of pumps and improving energy efficiency.
