Spray Pond
Spray Ponds or Mist Cooling System is an innovative application of modern materials, designs, and architecture to a century old concept, and so far, Spray Engineering Devices has designed more than 200 Mist Cooling Systems that are operating across the world. It is an industrial cooling solution designed to reduce the temperature of warm process water—typically from condensers—before it’s reused. By using a controlled open-air system, spray ponds provide an effective and cost-efficient method of cooling in settings with no space constraints, or where mechanical systems may not be ideal.

How It Works
Warm water is sprayed into fine droplets over a large open pond.
Natural airflow and upward drafts from warm air enhance cooling by increasing evaporation.
Evaporative cooling removes heat, lowering the water temperature close to the wet bulb temperature.
Spray ponds typically cool water by 10–20°C, depending on conditions.
The system saves energy by using natural air instead of mechanical fans.
Why IsIt Needed?
Low Civil Cost
Requires simpler construction and less infrastructure, reducing upfront investment.
Variable Spraying Capacity
Can adjust spray rates to match cooling demand efficiently.
Least Choking
Spray nozzles are less prone to blockage, ensuring reliable operation.
Low Drift Losses
Minimizes water loss by evaporation outside the pond area, conserving water002E
